The event to be held by PAvCon Europe in the hangar of Airborne Technologies GmbH, Viktor-Lang- Straße 8, 2700 Wiener Neustadt, Austria on 28-29 May 2024 It is planned to hold a one day training event off site in a hotel on Monday 27 May 2024. This is also the day when exhibitors arrive at Viktor-Lang -Straße to deliver and set up their displays. The tables and power will be set up for 12 noon that day. Full dates when it is expected that international travel delegates may be present in area and using hotel rooms are Saturday 25 May 2024 to Saturday 1 June 2024. TRAVEL TO THE EVENT The nearest airport is Vienna International Airport, 65km/26 miles from Wiener Neustadt. Travel from Vienna International Airport, to Wiener Neustadt is via S Autobahn/E59 a road journey expected to take 45 minutes. Combining the use of a bus or train [Rj Rjx] from the airport to Vienna Hbf €12 single followed by a train into Wiener Neustadt Hbf is cheaper and the service is every 30 minutes. Actual prices depend on the Vienna to Wiener Neustadt Hbf service selected. Be aware that if you take a taxi from the airport cab rank to Wiener Neustadt it will cost around €160. This is partly due to an airport tax. If you arrange to be picked up using taxis arranged through the Hilton Garden Hotel, Airborne Technologies or on-line you can expect to cut that cost significantly. GA aircraft and demonstration aircraft are welcome to fly into the host airport on a prior permission basis, 0900 to dusk—details on application. Welcome to Wiener Neustadt (pronunciation: vi na noystat); which translates into English as 'Newtown in the land of Vienna.' Aviation in the locality dates back to around 1910 and included a factory that produced Messerschmitt Bf109 aircraft. Wiener Neustadt East Airport is a modern landing ground serving Wiener Neustadt, for business and general aviation but doesn't feature commercial scheduled services; as you will have found by now the nearest major airport is Vienna International Airport. Separate from the East Airport is a military landing ground off to the west where the Austrian Police are building a new aviation facility designed to replace a base they have in their Headquarters in the centre of Vienna. The modern East Airport is the home of several Internationally important aviation entities including manufacturers Diamond Aircraft and Schiebel and our hosts for the next few days—Airborne Technologies. All three will be exhibiting at this years event. Founded in 1951 in Vienna, the globally operating Schiebel Group focuses on the development, design and production of the revolutionary CAMCOPTER® S-100 Unmanned Air System (UAS). Certified to meet AS/EN 9100 standards, Schiebel has built an international reputation for producing high-tech military, commercial and humanitarian products. The current factory, opened in September 2006, is just a few hundred metres from the PAvCon Europe venue. Schiebel also has facilities in Vienna, Manassas, Virginia (USA), Abu Dhabi (UAE), and Shoalhaven (Australia).
Diamond Aircraft Industries GmbH, was founded in 1981. The aircraft are produced in state of the art facilities located across the runway in Wiener Neustadt, and London, Ontario, Canada, as well as in third party license facilities to serve their respective markets. Originally an Austrian entity Diamond is now under Chinese ownership with a headquarters in Zhejiang Province, Peoples Republic, China. From design through prototyping, production of tooling, the production of “real time prepreg” composite materials, to the manufacture of complete airframes, welded metal components, electrical harnesses, instrument panels, systems and assemblies, all of this work is performed in-house. The engines for most of their aircraft are produced at the Austro Engine GmbH plant also located on the airport. Diamond invite prospective customers to visit their facilities to see how they craft the most advanced, most efficient and safest piston aircraft available. Diamond hosted the first PAvCon event at Wiener Neustadt East Airport using an adjoining air museum in 2013 [see the bottom image and note the Messerschmitt!]. Airborne Technologies was founded on the airport in 2008 to offer innovative and flexible customization solutions to governments, police, military and many sectors of industry. They offer an aircraft type agnostic service to integrate equipment from almost any source to produce a range of customer led ISR Turnkey Solutions and to provide a worldwide service and on-site support. Back in 2013 their facility was modest but subsequent site development has allowed them to provide a temporary home for the PAvCon Europe in both 2022 and this year. [based on Wikipedia].
In 2012 the PAvCon event was hosted by the Bundespolizei at their Hangelar facility near Bonn, Germany. Although it was nominally a heliport, fixed wing aircraft were able to access the site from the adjoining airfield. In 2016 another base in Munich hosted the event. A third event set for Berlin was sadly halted by the Pandemic.
The Event The role of Dynamic Range (and in the past Police Aviation Research) in the PAvCon Europe event is to cover the financial aspects of supporting the event as these are a known difficulty for the police of all European nations. To identify and bring together speakers from across the world [mainly US and Europe] fly them to the event and provide accommodation. PAvCon Europe identifies a location, often police/government hangars, and arrange sufficient tables, chairs, electricity and food and then offer industry the option to buy selling/demonstration space. There is no cost to attending police [and most of the active airborne emergency services personnel]. They transport themselves to the location and arrange and pay for their hotel. Often the only food they need to pay for is breakfast and some evening meals. PAvCon Europe will endeavour to supply maximum support to all attendees.
Conference Aims This year the event retains the two-day conference/ exhibition format and will focus on crew training and technology information. An exclusive police training day will take place on Monday 28 May at the Hilton Garden Inn hotel, Wiener Neustadt. The most important part remains that PAvCon Europe provides an opportunity for officers of all airborne law enforcement ranks to meet officers from other countries and cultures informally and to see and understand the new technology industry is offering.
This years hosts, Airborne Technologies, have been a long term supporter of the PAvCon event. In 2010 they took a Tecnam MMA aircraft to the second PAvCon event held at Příbram, in the Czech Republic

In the case of the ‘financially challenged’ nations, mainly those in the east, PAvCon Europe will try to offer a few free hotel rooms to junior police staff attending.
